VACATION IN AMERICA WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE

VACATION IN AMERICA (5 PART SERIES)

Vacationing in a foreign country is exciting but it can be very expensive.  However, with a little planning and some tips from someone local (me), you can make this trip to the US a trip of a lifetime without having to spend a lifetime to pay it off.

This blog series consists of 5 parts coinciding with what I view as the 5 major vacation expense categories: (1) Lodging, (2) Activities, (3) Food, (4) Transportation, and (5) Misc (e.g., souvenirs).  Below you will find a list of the blog postings which are hyperlinked to the actual post.  Please click on the blog post you would like to read.

Additional Information

Make sure you check Yelp (www.yelp.com) to read the reviews of the hotel.  Yelp is an online community where consumers review the businesses they have visited.  It is great because you get to read about other's experiences and determine if you want to spend your money there.  It is also a great way to find deals or specials.  For example, set the locale to the City where you are visiting and type in the search field "happy hour".  While happy hour is usually a bar thing, many restaurants offer high quality food at a discount or for free during that time.  So, you can cut your cost by ordering a drink (and many places don't require you to purchase alcohol) and grub on some good food.  Restaurants like McMormick & Schmick's will allow children to their happy hour area.
